The Launchpad: Returning to Live Music – A Discussion with Local Talent Buyers
May 6 @ 5:30 pm
The music industry faces a new reality as coronavirus restrictions loosen and more of the population is vaccinated. While a return to live music is on the horizon, many questions are still unanswered, from when that horizon may be to how the show experience for the audience and band members will be different.
Join us for a conversation with several Front Range talent buyers for Denver and Fort Collins venues as we discuss these topics, the dos and donts of reaching out to talent buyers, and more.
Kyle Hartman is currently the talent buyer for Larimer Lounge, Globe Hall, and Lost Lake in Denver, Colorado. He also runs Future Garden Agency- an artist incubator, creative consulting company, and booking agency that currently represents 10 artists across a variety of genres. For many years he’s served as a talent buyer for the Underground Music Showcase, along with working as a promoter for a variety of events across Colorado.
Emily is the Talent Buyer for The Bohemian Foundation in Fort Collins, Colorado where she’s responsible for buying talent for two club venues (Washington’s and The Armory), an outdoor summer concert series and Bohemian Nights, an annual three-day music festival. Previously, Emily booked talent for Belly Up Aspen in Aspen, Colorado and was a local and national tour buyer for Live Nation New York. She was also the Executive Director of Alternative Programming Touring for Live Nation, which focused on advancing the careers of LGBTQ+ identified artists. Outside of work Emily loves roller skating, queening out over RuPaul’s Drag Race, and chiweenies in small sweaters.
Bri Long is the Assistant Talent Buyer at the Aggie Theatre, and the owner of Longevity Productions, a Northern Colorado company focused on artist booking, artist management, promotion, and event facilitation. She has worked as a booking agent at Hodi’s Half Note and is co-producer of BlissFall Music and Arts Festival.
She started her music career producing a music festival in Illinois called From Dusk Til Dawn in 2011. She moved to Fort Collins Co in 2013 and has been an active member of the local music scene ever since. First starting on local street teams, her passion for music and the musicians creating it quickly grew!
Obtaining a job at both Hodi’s Half Note and The Aggie Theatre in 2016, Bri has touched many facets of the local music industry and has no plans on stopping!
For over a decade, Rikki Aston has been dedicated to building the careers of artists in the live performance space across the Front Range. After graduating from Michigan State University, Rikki made the move from Michigan to work for indie promoter, Soda Jerk Presents based out of Boulder where she was responsible for marketing, ticketing, and aided in venue management and show settlements.
In 2014, Rikki advanced to her current role as talent buyer for Live Nation Concerts where she promotes hundreds of shows across more than half a dozen venues in Colorado. She currently also helps to oversee Live Nation’s club business across the western mountain states and the pacific northwest. Outside of her love of live music, Rikki’s passions include indulging in Denver’s food scene, exploring Colorado’s outdoors, and listening to true crime podcasts.
