Take Note Music Meetup on Creating an Inclusive Music Community (Arts)
April 7 @ 7:00 pm
Join us Wednesday, April 7th for an amazing night of music and conversation with two musical luminaries! We’ll be speaking with singer, songwriter, and violinist Gaelynn Lea, and Denver-band iZCALLi, on the question of: How do we create a more inclusive music community in Colorado?
Gaelynn Lea won NPR Music’s Tiny Desk Contest in 2016 and captivates audiences around the world with her unique mix of haunting original songs and traditional fiddle tunes. In addition to performing, Gaelynn speaks on Disability Rights, finding inner freedom, and accessibility in the arts.
iZCALLi re-envision the Rock En Tu Idioma movement of the late 80’s and 90’s when singer Miguel Avina decided he wanted to do original rock in Spanish — or in English, too, if he felt like it — and he had a vision: that there was a need for the kind of music he wanted to make, with a swath of influences ranging from cumbias to Zeppelin, and a community of musicians just waiting to unite.
