A FRENCH OPERA OF LOVE, GREED AND TRAGEDY:
Boulder Opera presents one of French opera’s masterpieces!
Manon Lescaut-a young beautiful woman- arrives in Paris preparing for a life of service at a convent. The young Des Grieux catches sight of her. They instantly fall in love, abandon their plans, and flee together.
Des Grieux dreams of a simple life together outside of Paris, but greed and love collide inside Manon’s heart. She abandons the young man. The devastated lover vows to serve God as a priest, but she returns to him and both flee again together. Her greed leads the couple to tragedy and there is no time left for them.
Enjoy French Grand Opera under the baton of Steven Aguiló-Arbues, featuring an ensemble orchestra, Gene Roberts as Stage Director, with Amy Maples as Manon, and Cody Laun as Des Grieux. Sung in French with English subtitles.
