KGNU Presents: Tim Hecker (electronic)

Tim Hecker is a Juno Award-winning Canadian composer and musician, born in Vancouver. In the past two decades, he has produced a wide output, released by the likes of Kranky and 4AD. He focuses on exploring the intersection of noise, dissonance, and melody in his work, fostering an approach to songcraft which is both physical and emotive, his work being described as “structured ambient,” “tectonic color plates,” and “cathedral electronic music,” often taking instruments such as choirs, pianos and woodwind instruments, and blending them with complex programming.
