Historic Organs Meet 21st Century Tech

April 23 @ 6:00 pm

Pipe organs represent the oldest and most continuous historic keyboard tradition. The authentic sounds of historic organs are now available through audio sampling of each note of each organ pipe, including the reverberation of the space it inhabits. The sound is then reproduced through Virtual Pipe Organ (VPO) software and played using MIDI keyboards. Wesley Leffingwell, historic keyboard specialist, will discuss the history of organs, share his VPO setup, and play music that showcases the versatility and sonority of a virtual instrument. Tune in to see and hear part of the future of these mighty instruments!
