Good Trouble: Dr. MLK, Jr. Virtual Celebration (LOCAL)
With public health measures preventing large public gatherings locally, the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Colorado Holiday Commission proudly announces an all-virtual celebration to honor the life and legacy of Civil Rights icon Dr. King, on Monday, January 18. Under this year’s theme of “Good Trouble” expect a well-produced video presentation of the traditional invocation, speeches, and participation from community members and civil rights luminaries.
Even without the annual MLK Day Marade, the goal is for Denver to continue leading the nation in celebration of this important federal holiday. The MLK Holiday Commission is asking people to find service projects within their own communities, and share videos on the day’s work. They are also seeking donations to help care for the unhoused and needy, including food, toiletries, diapers, cell phones, and most vitally socks, boots, gloves, jackets, and other winter gear.
