A Benefit Concert for The Matthews House featuring the Gasoline Lollipops
August 29 @ 6:00 pm
First Presbyterian Church Fort Collins presents a benefit concert for The Matthews House on Sunday, August 29 at 6:00 p.m. The outdoor event on the campus of First Presbyterian Church (531 S. College Avenue) will feature the award-winning, electrifying Northern Colorado band, Gasoline Lollipops. Food trucks will be on site.
First Presbyterian Church hosts one of the two Community Life Centers for The Matthews House—alongside Genesis Project Church, the host of the other Community Life Center in Fort Collins. Music students of The Matthews House will provide an intermission performance that will also include information about their work in the community and an encouragement to donate in support. The mission of The Matthews House is to disrupt the cycles of poverty and abuse in Northern Colorado. They take a holistic approach to empower youth and their families to overcome barriers to self-sufficiency and build community.
Gasoline Lollipops stitch scraps of American roots music to patches of their own tattered hearts to form an all-new tapestry of bleeding rock n’ roll. Gasoline Lollipops are three-time winners of Colorado Daily’s “Best Local Band” award and two-time winners of Denver Westword’s “Best Country Band” award. Over the last four years, they have toured throughout the US, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Belize. In 2018, they made Billboard’s top 10 Spotify chart and Pandora’s top 10 Trend Setters list. Today, the Gas Pops continue to bend genres and electrify live audiences with ferocious sincerity.
FolkNRock.com said, “Somewhere in between punk provocateurs and folk storyteller, these talented musicians managed to combine engaging riffs and straight-forward arrangements with personable lyrics and quintessential arrangements that feel organic and diverse. The production of the album certainly highlights the band’s natural chemistry. These recordings sound and feel like a band filling a room with electricity.”
First Presbyterian Church is pleased to present this concert as a part of its Music with a Mission initiative. As a gift to the community, the concert is FREE and open to the public. Sponsors are underwriting all of the expenses for the concert so that every dollar donated goes directly to support the life-changing work of The Matthews House. Current sponsors include The First Presbyterian Church Foundation, Bohemian Foundation, Maxey Trailers, and The Genesis Project as well as individual donors. Additional sponsors will be added to future publicity as they are confirmed.
